Rapinoe eventually rose to the post of captain, and was one of her team's top scorers. Two goals by Rapinoe's were a in a 4-3-2 United States victory against Australia during the Olympics in 2020 Tokyo. Japan, however had to wait until 2021, until the COVID-19 epidemic had passed.
